About IACE

 

IACE’s mission is to research and disseminate information on world education systems and institutions and to assist in the process of integration into life in the United States.

 

IACE accomplishes these goals by:

·        conducting quality research on world educational systems and institutions

·        acting as a public service organization by sharing research and credential evaluation information with the international community

·        contributing research to international education publications

·        providing credential evaluations based on extensive research utilizing various publications in the international education field

·        maintaining professional international contacts in the field of education, including Ministries of Education, academic institutions, faculty and professional organizations

·        using advanced technology and electronic databases for research and report preparation

 

IACE is committed to providing excellent service to its clients and supporting the integration of individuals educated in other countries into United States educational and professional environments.

 

About the Director

 

Dr. Linda Jahn, Director, co-founded IACE in 1991 in response to demand for foreign credential evaluation services from individuals and local colleges and universities in the Dallas area.  Dr. Jahn has over 30 years of foreign credential evaluation experience having served as Director of International Admissions at the University of North Texas (UNT), a position from which she retired in 2001.  In that position, she was responsible for graduate and undergraduate international admissions.  Prior to UNT, Dr. Jahn was employed as foreign credential evaluator and admission counselor at University of Nebraska at Omaha.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French from Midland Lutheran College in Nebraska, a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Counselor Education from UNT.  She lived in France from 1971-1972 and has traveled extensively throughout the world.

Linda has served on the International Education Committee of AACRAO, was Chair of the Projects for International Educational Research (PIER) Committee of AACRAO and NAFSA.  She is co-author of the Education System of France published by AACRAO, co-author of the Education System of Canada, published by PIER, and other NAFSA publications.  Linda also served as Editor of the NAFSA wRAP newsletter (Recruitment, Admissions, and Preparation).

 

Credential Evaluation Criteria

 

In evaluating foreign education records, IACE determines the equivalence in the United States educational system using the following criteria:

·        Entrance requirements of the program

·        Level of education represented

·        Institutional recognition

·        Ministry of Education description of program

·        Program length, content and purpose

·        Clinical or professional practice components

·        The level of education that the credential gives access to in the home country

·        Level of preparation of faculty

 

Training and Consulting

 

IACE provides valuable training opportunities and consulting to colleges, universities, and organizations working with people with international educational backgrounds.

 

Our training/consulting opportunities include:

·        Understanding foreign educational systems and credential evaluation (specific countries per your request)

·        Foreign grading practices and credit equivalencies

·        Falsified credentials:  How to recognize them and what to do about them

·        Building an International Admissions Office

·        Building a reference library for International Admissions
